Around the turn of the era, Alexandria fused Babylonian sky records with Egyptian calendrics into a complete doctrine: sect, essential dignities, lots, time-lords. Dorotheus and Vettius Valens wrote its handbooks in the first two centuries; Arabic scholars preserved and extended it through the Middle Ages; then a simplified modern astrology buried it.
Only the translation movement of the 1990s brought the full toolkit back into circulation. This page lists that older, stricter craft.

What is classical astrology?
